Crochet V-Stitch Scarf

Instructions

Tap a section when you finish it.

1. 1Foundation chainCh 34. Use the formula number of V-stitches x 3 + 4 to change the width (34 ch for 10 V).
2. 2Row 1V in 5th ch from hook; *skip 2 ch, V in next ch* 9 times; skip 1 ch, dc in last ch. Turn. (10 V plus a dc at each edge; the first 3 skipped chains count as the edge dc)
3. 3V rowRow 2 and all following rows: ch 3 (counts as dc), V in the ch-1 space at the centre of each V of the previous row (10 V), dc in the last stitch (top of the previous row's turning chain). Turn. (10 V) The V-stitches stack on top of each other with small vertical gaps between them.
4. 4BodyRepeat the V row until you have 105 rows in total (about 150 cm). Check that you still have 10 V every 10 rows. Join new balls at the start of a row.
5. 5TasselsWrap yarn around the 15 cm cardboard and cut along one edge to get 30 cm lengths. Attach a tassel of 3 lengths below each V (10 on each short edge). Trim the ends.
6. 6FinishingWeave the ends into the edge dc. Dampen the scarf and dry it flat, straightening the edges by hand. The V-stitches become more defined as it dries.
