Crochet Tassel Triangle Shawl

Instructions

1. 1The pointCh 2. Row 1: 3 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn. (3 sts) This is the bottom point of the shawl. Place a locking marker in the first stitch to mark the right side if you like.
2. 2Increase patternEvery row: ch 1 (doesn't count), 3 hdc in first st, 1 hdc in each st to last st, 3 hdc in last st. Turn. Each row increases 2 sts at each edge (4 in total). Row 2: 7 sts. Row 3: 11 sts. Row 4: 15 sts. Formula: Row n has 4n - 1 sts.
3. 3BodyContinue in the same way to Row 50. You should have 39 sts on Row 10, 79 on Row 20, 119 on Row 30, 159 on Row 40 and 199 on Row 50. The 3 hdc worked at each edge make the sides slightly wavy; that's part of the design.
4. 4Top edgeAfter Row 50, turn, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each st. (199 sc) This row straightens and firms up the neck edge. Cut the yarn leaving 15 cm.
5. 5TasselsWrap yarn around the 13 cm cardboard and cut along one edge to get 26 cm lengths. For each tassel fold 4 lengths in half, pull the fold through an edge stitch with the hook and pull the ends through the loop to tighten. Attach a tassel every 3 rows along both side edges (about 17 per side) and add a fuller tassel (8 lengths) at the point.
6. 6FinishingWeave the ends into the shawl. Trim the tassels into a neat line with scissors. Dampen the shawl and let it dry flat in a triangle shape.
