The story of this dish
Buffalo wings are named after the city of Buffalo, New York. The best-known story credits Teressa Bellissimo of the Anchor Bar, who is said to have first fried wings and tossed them in buttery hot sauce there in 1964. Other Buffalo restaurants have made their own claims, so the origin remains disputed.
Chicken wings, once a cheap cut used mostly for stock, went on to become one of the most popular bar snacks in the United States. The original wings are deep-fried; this oven method is easier and lighter at home.
