Easy Crochet Fingerless Gloves

1. 1Foundation chainCh 32. Hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each remaining chain (30 hdc; the 2 skipped chains do not count). The starting end of the chain is the wrist edge and the finishing end is the finger edge.
2. 2Ribbed rowsFollowing rows: ch 2 (does not count), turn, 1 hdc BLO in each stitch (30). Working in the back loop creates a ridge on each row, and the fabric stretches like ribbing. Work 20 (22) rows in total; the piece measures about 18 (20) cm wide.
3. 3FittingWrap the piece around your hand: the rows should run as horizontal lines around the hand, and the edges should meet with slight tension. If it's loose, pull out a row; if it's tight, add a row.
4. 4Seam and thumb openingFold the piece so the first and last rows lie on top of each other. Starting at the wrist end, join 17 stitches by working sl st through matching stitches of both edges. Leave the next 7 stitches unjoined; this is the thumb opening. Join the last 6 stitches with sl st (17+7+6 = 30).
5. 5EdgingIf you like, work a round of sc around the finger opening and the thumb opening, 1 sc in the end of each row. This edge keeps the openings from stretching out and looks neater.
6. 6FinishingCut the yarn and weave the ends into the seam. Make the second glove the same way; both are identical and fit either hand. Dampen lightly and dry flat to shape.
