Crochet Kimono Cardigan

1. 1BackCh 77 (85, 92, 100). Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. (75 (83, 90, 98) hdc; the 2 skipped ch do not count) Row 2: ch 2 (does not count), turn, 1 hdc in each st. Repeat row 2 until the piece measures 65 (66, 67, 68) cm (about 72 (73, 74, 75) rows). Fasten off.
2. 2FrontsCh 32 (35, 38, 41) and work as for the back. (30 (33, 36, 39) hdc) Fasten off when the piece measures 65 (66, 67, 68) cm. Make a second one.
3. 3SleevesCh 62 (65, 68, 71) and work the same way. (60 (63, 66, 69) hdc, about 40 (42, 44, 46) cm) Fasten off when the piece measures 25 cm (about 28 rows). Make a second sleeve.
4. 4Shoulder seamsPlace the fronts on top of the back with the outer edges aligned. At each shoulder, join across 22 (25, 27, 30) sts from the outer edge. This leaves 31 (33, 36, 38) sts at the center back for the neck; the inner 8 (8, 9, 9) sts of each front stay free and fall outwards as a collar.
5. 5Sleeves and side seamsMatch the center of the sleeve's foundation-chain edge to the shoulder seam and sew this edge to the body; the sleeve reaches 20 (21, 22, 23) cm down the front and back from the shoulder. Then sew the lower edges of the sleeve (underarm seam) and the side edges of the body in one go.
6. 6EdgingStarting at the lower right front corner, work 2 rounds of sc up the front edge, around the neck, down the left front and along the hem (2 sc per hdc row-end). Work 3 sc in the same st at the corners. Work 1 round of sc around each sleeve edge.
7. 7FinishingWeave the ends into the seams. Wash the cardigan and dry it flat to measurements; cotton blends drape beautifully after the first wash. Add fringe to the hem if you like.
