Top-Down Seamless Raglan Sweater

1. 1NeckbandWith the 4.5 mm 40 cm circular, cast on 88 (92, 96, 100) sts and join in the round without twisting; place the colored beginning-of-round marker (the round begins at the left back shoulder). Work 6 rounds of *k1, p1* rib (about 2.5 cm).
2. 2Setting up the raglanChange to the 5 mm needle. Setup round: k30 (31, 32, 33) for the back, pm, k14 (15, 16, 17) for a sleeve, pm, k30 (31, 32, 33) for the front, pm, k14 (15, 16, 17) for the second sleeve; the beginning-of-round marker is the fourth raglan line. (88 (92, 96, 100) sts)
3. 3Raglan increases — phase 1Raglan increase round: *knit to 1 st before marker, M1, k1, sm, k1, M1* at all four markers; each increase round adds 8 sts. Plain round: knit all sts. Work these two rounds 19 (20, 20, 20) times in total. (240 (252, 256, 260) sts: back and front 68 (71, 72, 73), sleeves 52 (55, 56, 57) sts)
4. 4Raglan increases — phase 2 (body only)To keep the sleeves from getting too wide, now increase on the front and back only. Body increase round: at each marker, M1 only on the side facing the front or back section; do not increase on the sleeve sts (4 sts added per round). Follow with a plain round. Work these two rounds 5 (7, 9, 11) times. (260 (280, 292, 304) sts: back and front 78 (85, 90, 95), sleeves 52 (55, 56, 57) sts) The yoke should measure about 20 (22.5, 24, 26) cm from the neck.
5. 5Dividing for sleevesKnit the 78 (85, 90, 95) back sts, remove the marker, place the 52 (55, 56, 57) sleeve sts on waste yarn, cast on 5 (7, 11, 15) underarm sts, knit the 78 (85, 90, 95) front sts, place the second sleeve on waste yarn and cast on 5 (7, 11, 15) sts again. You now have 166 (184, 202, 220) body sts; place the new beginning-of-round marker in the middle of one underarm cast-on.
6. 6BodyKnit the body in stockinette for 30 (31, 32, 33) cm from the underarm; try it on and adjust the length if you like. Change to the 4.5 mm 80 cm needle and work *k1, p1* rib for 6 cm. Bind off loosely in rib.
7. 7SleevesPlace the 52 (55, 56, 57) sleeve sts on 5 mm DPNs and pick up 5 (7, 11, 15) sts from the underarm cast-on; start the round at the center of the underarm. (57 (62, 67, 72) sts) Knit 8 rounds. Decrease round: k1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 (2 sts decreased). Work the decrease round every 8th round 8 (9, 10, 11) times in total. (41 (44, 47, 50) sts) When the sleeve measures 40 (41, 42, 43) cm from the underarm, k2tog once on the last round for sizes S and L to get an even count. (40 (44, 46, 50) sts)
8. 8CuffChange to 4.5 mm and work *k1, p1* rib for 5 cm. Bind off in rib. Work the second sleeve the same way.
9. 9FinishingClose any small gaps at the underarms with the yarn tails and weave in all ends on the wrong side. Wash the sweater in lukewarm water, squeeze gently and dry flat on a towel to the given measurements (blocking).
