Chunky Knit Pouf Cover

Tap a section when you finish it.

1. 1Cast onCast on 112 sts onto the 12 mm circular needle. Join in the round without twisting and place the contrasting marker for the start of the round. The cover is knitted slightly smaller than the pouf so it fits snugly (112 sts).
2. 2BodyEvery round: *k3, p1* 28 times. Work this texture for 38 rounds; the body will measure about 35 cm (112 sts).
3. 3Top: crown decreasesChange to stockinette and place a marker every 14 sts (8 sections). Round 1: *k12, k2tog* 8 times (104). Round 2: Knit. Round 3: *k11, k2tog* 8 times (96). Alternate decrease rounds and plain rounds, decreasing 1 st per section on each decrease round. Last decrease round: *k2tog* 8 times (8 sts). Switch to double-pointed needles as the stitches decrease.
4. 4Closing the topCut the yarn leaving 25 cm. Thread it through the remaining 8 sts with the yarn needle, pull tight and secure on the WS with a few stitches. The crown takes 25 rounds in total.
5. 5Base: picking upTurn the cover upside down. Pick up 1 st in each cast-on st onto the circular needle (112 sts). Purl 1 round; this round forms a fold line at the bottom edge (112 sts).
6. 6Base: decreases and eyeletsRound 1: *k12, k2tog* 8 times (104). Round 2: k. Round 3: *k11, k2tog* (96). Round 4: k. Round 5: *k10, k2tog* (88). Round 6: k. Round 7: *k9, k2tog* (80). Round 8: k. Round 9 (eyelet round): *k2tog, yo* 40 times (80). Rounds 10-11: k. Then bind off loosely.
7. 7FinishingWeave in the ends. Thread the cord through the 40 eyelets. Slip the cover over the pouf insert (or stuff it), pull the cord to gather the base opening, tie a bow and tuck the ends inside. To wash, simply loosen the cord and remove the cover.
