Crochet Flower Baby Headband

1. 1BandWith the main colour, ch 10. Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across (8 hdc; the skipped 2 ch do not count). From row 2: ch 2 (does not count), hdc in back loop only of each st, turn (8). Back-loop crochet creates ridges that stretch like ribbing.
2. 2LengthWork until the band measures 32/36/39 cm unstretched (about 51/58/62 rows). The band should be 3-6 cm smaller than baby's head; it must not squeeze or leave marks. If unsure, try it on and add a few rows if needed.
3. 3JoiningWithout twisting, lay the last row over the first row and join them with sl sts worked through both edges. The seam will sit under the flower and will not show. Cut the yarn leaving 20 cm.
4. 4FlowerWith the second colour, make a magic ring. Round 1: ch 1 (does not count), 10 sc in ring; join with sl st to first sc and pull the ring tight. Round 2: *(hdc, 3 dc, hdc) in next st, sl st in next st* 5 times (5 petals). Join with sl st and fasten off, leaving a 30 cm tail. Make a center by working a few tight embroidered knots in the main colour; do not use beads or buttons.
5. 5Sewing on the flowerPlace the flower over the joining seam of the band. With the tail, sew round 1 of the flower and the base of every petal to the band with close stitches, passing through to the back of the band. The flower should not move when tugged.
6. 6FinishingWeave all ends through the stitches inside the band and trim. Hand wash the headband in lukewarm water and dry flat.
