Knitted Baby Wrap Top (Zıbın)

Tap a section when you finish it.

1. 1BackCast on 48/52/56 sts. The whole top is worked in garter stitch (knit every row). Work until the back measures 16/18/20 cm from the cast-on edge.
2. 2Casting on for sleevesCast on 25/29/34 sts at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows (98/110/124). These stitches form the kimono sleeves and are worked in one piece with the back. Use the circular needle like straight needles for the long rows.
3. 3Sleeve and shoulder sectionContinue in garter over all sts for 8/9/10 cm from the sleeve cast-on row. This height is half the sleeve width; the sleeve opening will measure 16/18/20 cm around.
4. 4Back neck bind-offK41/47/53, bind off the center 16/16/18 sts, k41/47/53. This row is the shoulder line. Place the first 41/47/53 sts on waste yarn; continue with the sts on the needle for the first front.
5. 5First front: neck increasesEvery other row, work a kfb in the first st after the neck edge stitch, for 16/16/18 increases in total (57/63/71). The increases form the slope of the wrap neckline and the overlap of the front. Work the front until it measures the same as the back sleeve section from the shoulder line (8/9/10 cm).
6. 6First front: bodyAt the beginning of a row starting at the sleeve edge, bind off 25/29/34 sts (32/34/37). On the remaining front body sts, work 16/18/20 cm of garter from the sleeve bind-off row (the same length as the back) and bind off.
7. 7Second frontPlace the 41/47/53 held sts on the needle and join yarn at the neck edge. Work as for the first front, mirrored, with the increases at the neck edge and the sleeve bind-off at the sleeve edge.
8. 8Seaming and closureFold the top along the shoulder line. Join the sleeve undersides (the sleeve cast-on edge of the back to the sleeve bind-off edge of the front) and the side seams with flat stitches through the garter ridges. Adjust the overlap, then sew one pair of snaps at the corner of the top front, level with the opposite side seam, and the second pair on the inside at the corner of the under front, to the other side seam.
9. 9FinishingWeave the ends into the seams. Wash the top in lukewarm water and dry flat to size. The sleeve ends can be turned back once so they do not cover baby's hands.
