Crochet Phone Case

1. 1Seamless baseCh 18 (19). Sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each remaining chain (17 (18)). Without turning, continue along the other side of the chain and work another row of sc into the same chains (17 (18)). Join with sl st to the first sc: 34 (36) sts. The base closes without any sewing.
2. 2Granite stitch setupRound 1: ch 1, sc in the first st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, sc in the next st* 16 (17) times, then ch 1, skip the last st and sl st to the first sc. The round has 17 (18) sc and 17 (18) ch-sps.
3. 3BodyFollowing rounds: sl st into the first ch-sp, ch 1, sc in the same ch-sp, *ch 1, skip the sc, sc in the next ch-sp*; after the last ch 1, sl st to the first sc. Each round the sc sit in the chain spaces of the previous round, giving a small, pebbly texture. Slip your phone in now and then, and work until the case measures 14 (15) cm from the base.
4. 4Top edgeCh 1, work 1 sc in each sc and each ch-sp, join with sl st to the first sc (34 (36)). Work 2 more rounds with 1 sc in each stitch. The phone should stick out 1-1.5 cm above the edge so it's easy to pull out.
5. 5Optional wrist strapWithout cutting the yarn, ch 60 and attach the chain with sl st to the stitch 2 sts away on the same side edge of the case. Work back along the chain with 1 sl st in each chain; this firms up the strap and stops it from twisting.
6. 6FinishingCut the yarn and weave the ends in on the inside. Dampen the case lightly and let it dry with a phone-sized piece of cardboard inside to even out its shape. If your phone has a different size, add 1 chain to the foundation for every extra 0.5 cm of width; the stitch count stays even and the granite stitch still works.
