Crochet T-Shirt Yarn Bag

1. 1Oval baseJoin each round with sl st to the first stitch and start with ch 1 (does not count). Ch 12. Round 1: sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, sc in each of the next 9 chains, 3 sc in the last chain; continue along the other side of the chain with 9 sc, then 2 sc in the chain holding the first sc (24). Round 2: inc, sc 9, inc in each of the next 3 sts, sc 9, inc in each of the last 2 sts (30). Round 3: sc 1, inc, sc 9, *sc 1, inc* x3, sc 9, *sc 1, inc* x2 (36).
2. 2Corner roundRound 4: 1 sc BLO in each stitch (36). Working in the back loop forms a clear line at the edge of the base and helps the body rise straight up.
3. 3BodyRounds 5-14: 1 sc in each stitch (36). T-shirt yarn is heavy, so don't pull the stitches too tight, but don't leave them loose either; the hook should enter each stitch without forcing. The body reaches about 18 cm in height.
4. 4Handle openingsRound 15: sc 6, ch 10, skip 6 sts, sc 12, ch 10, skip 6 sts, sc 6 (6 + 6 + 12 + 6 + 6 = 36 sts). Round 16: 1 sc in each sc, and 12 sc into each ch-10 space (24 + 24 = 48).
5. 5Top edgeRound 17: 1 sl st in each stitch. The slip-stitch round firms up the opening and handles and helps the bag keep its shape.
6. 6FinishingCut the yarn and pull it through the last loop. Weave in the ends with a large-eye needle or a small hook through several stitches on the inside; t-shirt yarn is slippery, so hide at least 10 cm of each end. T-shirt yarn can shrink a little when washed, so hand-wash the bag and dry it flat.
